Welcome to The Therapy Room

My name is Thomas Watson

I am qualified and fully insured to carry out Sports Massage treatments. I am a member of FHT - the Federation of Holistic Therapists; the oldest professional Sports, Beauty and Complementary therapy organisation in the UK with the largest membership of any multi-disciplinary therapy organisation in the UK with over 21,000 members.

I studied Sports Science at New College Swindon and was, in my younger days, a member of Pewsey Youth Football Club.

Originally opened in 2004, by my mum Tina Watson, I have now taken over the business. The Therapy Room was also where my sister Rebecca worked until she pursued a career in the French Alps. (Tina now runs Fusion Therapies, which operates from the same site, offering Sports Massage, Swedish and Remedial Massage, Hot Stone Treatments, Holistic Facials, Thai Foot Massage and Reiki, all of which can be combined with a massage treatment.)

My Philiosphy/What makes my treatments different?

I look at the individual as a whole, not just the problem you are presenting with.

Everyone is different and no 'one size fits all'.

Most of us have had the experience of receiving a massage and feeling that the therapist wasn't really there, that she or he was just performing robotic superficial moves while thinking of her/his shopping list.

The way I like to work is by listening first to you and then to your body's needs and responding to them with focus.

Your treatment will be tailored and specific to your needs and it is a pleasure for me to see how most of my clients realise and appreciate this.

What is Sports Massage?

Sports massage is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused from repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. Whether this be from a sporting activity or everyday life.

Many people presume that sports massage is solely for sports people – it is not!

Sports massage is for anyone who desires a deep massage that really works the muscles. It’s invaluable to athletes who need pre and post event work – either relaxing or invigorating the muscles in preparation for a competition, and then afterwards flushing them out – helping the sore muscles detoxify, realign and heal in preparation for the next bout of action.

For those who don’t play sports but perhaps work in an office environment, sitting in the same position for long periods, or carrying out repetitive tasks, sports massage is ideal. It is extremely effective for loosening tight muscles and refreshing aching limbs.

Sports Massage Can:

  • Improve range of motion and muscle flexibility.
  • Increase power and performance.
  • Reduce the chance of injury through proper stretching and event preparation, and through deep tissue massage.
  • Shorten recovery time.
  • Maximize the supply of nutrients and oxygen through increased blood flow.
  • Enhance elimination of metabolic by-products of exercise (hydrogen ions and lactic acid) .
  • Loosen adhesions in soft tissue.
  • Break down scar tissue into smaller particles: at this point, it can be absorbed into the lymph vessels. Left alone, scar tissue can remain as hard as bone.

Massage is popular around the world and incorporates the use of touch to stimulate circulation and relax muscles. Massage therapy is an ancient healing touch that provides comfort through applying pressure to the muscles of the body. Massages may be given lying down or seated at a massage chair and, may be total body or specific areas of discomfort. Benefits may include relaxation, increased energy, pain relief, improved circulation, digestion, and sleep, and a greater sense of well-being.
